Hello {{RegistrantFirstName}},
You have been re-added to the CRNA’s Provisional Register, also known as the Provisional Nurse Program. You are eligible for the remainder of your original 12-month period, and your provisional permit will expire on {{FormatDate ProvisionalTermEnd}}. There are no further renewal periods for the Provisional Register.
As a reminder, while you are in the Provisional Nurse Program, you will hold the title Graduate Nurse, depending on your application type. The Provisional Nurse Program is intended to allow nurses to practice under supervision while preparing for their relevant nursing registration exam. The specifics of the practice supervision can be found in this document. To read more about the Provisional Nurse Program, visit the CRNA page here. You can view your provisional permit in the College Connect portal, after you sign in.
If you fail the NCLEX-RN exam twice while in the Provisional Nurse Program, or do not write and pass your exam before the 12-month expiry date, you will be removed from the Provisional Nurse Program and have your GN permit revoked. Please note, the total time allotted to pass your nursing exam is independent of the Provisional Nurse Program, as you have 2 years from your education program completion date.
Registration exams are designed to ensure that every new nurse is competent to practice as a registered nurse (RN) and it is a mandatory step to receiving your full practice permit. The process of writing your exam requires a multi-step authentication process between the CRNA, as the regulatory body, and Pearson VUE, as the exam testing authority. To learn more about registration exams, visit the CRNA page here.
When you are prepared to write your exam, please click here, and select the Request NCLEX-RN Exam registrant service. This service will begin the Eligibility and Authorization to Test (ATT) processes.
If you are not yet prepared to write your exam, the CRNA will continue to send emails to remind you of the time you have left on the provisional register.
If you require more information about this process, please reach out to us by email at registration@nurses.ab.ca or by phone at 1.800.252.9392.
