CRNA Application: Nursing Exams Additional Exam Request Decision

Upon delegated authority from the Registration Committee, we have reviewed and approved your request one or more attempts to pass the applicable RN registration exam (NCLEX-RN). The exam is to be written on or before ___________.

The timeframe specified provides reasonable opportunity for you to prepare for and undertake your writing of the exam and allows for multiple exam writes. If circumstances occur that affect your ability to write the exam within that timeframe, please contact us as soon as possible.

Please contact Pearson VUE to obtain your authorization to test (ATT) and schedule your exam on or before ___________.

Legislative authority  

The authority for the decision is found in the Health Professions Act (HPA), Registered Nurses Profession Regulation (Regulation), CRNA Bylaws and Policies. The HPA requires applicants for registration to provide evidence of competence to practice, including passing exams (section 28(2)(a)(iii)). Section 3(1)(b) of the Regulation requires an applicant to pass the registration exam. Section 10(1) states an applicant must pass the applicable registration exam within 2 years after completion of the education requirement. Section 10(5) specifies one or more attempts may be granted if the Registration Committee is satisfied there were extenuating circumstances. In summary, we have approved one or more attempts to pass the applicable registration exam (NCLEX-RN), which is to be written no later than ____________. Please note that approval of the additional writing of the exam does not change your current status of being ineligible for graduate nurse registration.
